By registering on this forum, you agree to use it properly, and to refrain from posting any content that is aggressive, offensive, defamatory, hateful, or in violation of applicable laws and regulations. You agree not to post messages inciting or evoking illegal practices, or violating the terms of use of the service.
The moderators and administrators of this forum will do their best to delete or edit any reprehensible messages that may be posted on the forum. (Quite different from others)
This is an open forum for the discussion of philosophical matters. Philosophy encompases ALL things knowledge and wisdom, as such it encompasses all things either known or not known to exist.
Some material MIGHT be offensive to some. There are no censors in place anywhere. If you do not like reprehensible language, don't complain about it - either ignore it, deal with it, or be an adult and leave. I (Sardonicus, the forum creator) do not believe in ANY form of censorship, as such there will be none, safe a few things which are illegal.
Certain things will be censored and may result in an instant ban. If the item will result in an instant ban, it will be marked in bold. All items will result in a temporary suspension. These items will be:
- Posting child pornography- Hacking- Continued harassment of another user- Continual arguing or goading of others into argument- Anything I (or other mods) deem worthy of censorship/banning
Things which may be discussed here are (but not limited to):
- Religion/Theology
- Philosophy
- Philosophical Ideas
- Specific philosophers
- Philosophical schools of thought
- et al
If you don't like any of that, don't join. Philosophy is NOT for the weak of heart and those too afraid to challenge each other, their own beliefs, life itself, and the entire world if necessary.
There is a difference between and argument and a debate, at least as far as this site is concerned (though formally, there is not much of a difference). A
debate is a calm discussion between opposing viewpoints either in a formal, or semi-formal manner using LOGICAL arguments to prove each one another's side. An
argument is an emotionally charged verbal [or in the case of this site, textual] assault between two people often involving no logic at all.
Debates, no matter how "disturbing" or "controversial" will be allowed to continue.
Arguments will be locked immediately. If all members of a thread are debating and ONE is arguing, the ONE will have all of his or her posts deleted and they will be temporarily suspended. Continued problems from the same users will result in a permanent ban.
Administrators and moderators reserve the rite to remove any and all materials or users at our own discretion. If you feel as though it was wrongfully done, we don't care, don't bother us. If you feel a particular mod is on a power trip though, let me (Sardonicus) know, and I will have word with them.
